Exactly, you can weld plastic pieces together with heat. I have used a soldering iron to weld plastic parts together. Your tail piece is made from ABS if it's a factory Kawasaki part. ABS responds well to this technique. Here are some shots of my repair to my KZ1000 tail for example. I suggest you google "plastic welding" for further research.

Yea I think you are going to have to modify that tail section and maybe raise the tank some to make it flow right. Look up that plastic welding technique and sketch out some ideas to make the tail smaller. In the end its your bike so it needs to look right to you, i think you're doing great so far, keep after it!

my one problem now is that it runs and has good throttle response and all that jazz but here is something weird... sometimes when i get it to idle well, and throttle it up it wants to stay throttled up and rev instead of returning to idle. does that make sense? I know i have petcock issues and i need to set my float bowls but it seems like a strange problem. Any Ideas? Thanks!

that is a common symptom of a lean condition, or sticking cables. have the carbs been cleaned?

yeah, the carbs have been cleaned and throttle returns the closed position when I let off of it. when I turn the idle screw all the way down it runs fine for a second and then starts to chug for a bit then eventually dies.

Why is it a condition of a lean motor? thanks!

On mine it was a symptom of a air leak at the rubber manifolds between the carbs and cyl head . Hope this helps.B)

Not looking too bad, now leaking, yes. I need a new petcock fo sho. I plan on making some sort of sporty fender for the back out of that GIANT ZX6 rear that I have, that will be fun! Oh and I probably need a chain tensioner as well. It still Idles erratically sometimes? whatever, I haven't found any vacuum leaks or sticking throttle, and carbs were just cleaned.

Becky is getting there. I actaully shaved the seat flat today and recovered. I'll have to put up some photos of it now. Thanks for looking!!

hi revs that come down slowly on there own, is a common symptom of a motor that is running lean.
u may want to consider cleaning the carbs again , if u are sure there are no vacuum leaks. also check for diaphram cracks.

Good luck.

If it's not running right - did you balance the carbs to each other? This will make a huge improvement in the way it runs. You connect a vacuum gauge to each of the carbs and adjust the throttle plates so you have the same vacuum reading on all four. As was already mentioned it will run lean if you have a vacuum leak. Check that all the vacuum lines from the carbs are connected and not leaking. There is one vacuum hose that goes to the petcock and two go into a T and then to the switch valve under the fuel tank. The other carb will have a rubber plug on the vacuum port. There are many other threads on the board that describe how to sync the carburetors. The fuel tank and carbs must be clean and there can be no vacuum leaks though first. Good luck - nice bike.
