G'day.
Just picked this up.
More later, but i built it 20 years ago! Sold on, went interstate and now returned ( no refund! )...much worse for wear.

lovin' the Les Holt bike....I bow down at your altar.
I'm leaning towards building a Z1R-TC clone....maybe?

that old girl looks pretty good to me i like it alot just freshen it up and will still be a fun ride. how big is the motor. it looks like bike has alot of decent pieces on it a little bit of the old lipstick and rouge treatment will make a huge difference in how you look at this bike. it is unique the way it is i wouldnt change much on it. you have bike that looks like it was done up right to begin with.

You are a lucky man...not many people get to completely rebuild the same bike twice...

EDIT: BTW...keep the Yosh pipe.

Like a lost child coming home, bout bring a tear to your eyes. Congrats on getting her back. Thanks for the comments on my build, I'm really liking it too. I almost went with the spoked wheel setup on mine. Looks like I'll go that route next build. I wasn't sure how a Z1R would look with them but yours looks good, I like it. Keep us posted!

Sup?
i found a set of 28mm carbs today. Bloke is going to lend 'em to me for an initial start up.
As i figure on performing forced inductionotomy this step is probs not relevant, but, dammit, i just wanna hear it. Once. Then tear down and let the games begin!
It needs a few things...carbs, shockers (missing one!), front master cylinder ( missing site glass so u/s i reckon), battery, key! ( i never had a key, or a dash, only a hidden kill switch.)
Motor in it is a 1015 at present i'm led to believe. Was a 1200 with 33 kiehin CR's....10.9 @ 118 with a close ratio 'box.
Then again there is that zx14 for cheeps....

Decisions,decisions.

No dash? I hear that is a common problem with Z1R owners!

Drumming up some work are we? I'm sure you noticed boyracer, I'm having a new dash made for my bike. Myself and another member kinda roped porchev914 into some carbon fiber dash's. If your wanting a dash you might sweet talk him a little, after I get mine that is.;)

Bike had nothing but headlight bucket and fresh air inside fairing. I kinda liked it that way.... lighter = faster.
I put a tacho' and key/electric leg in it for next owner.
Thinking this time an air brushed 'headlight' or a transfer would be good!

Will need a small (total loss?) battery for Dyna and brake light (use LED's for low wattage.)
Photos of MORIWAKI Z1R and SYNDICATE Z1R (Aussie late 80's hotrod) with blanked off alternator and no sidecovers/electrics give me wood.
I'm a minimalist at heart.

OMG 6 months! where does the time go? Oh yeah, my daughter is 4 months old today.....
I've done bugger all so far. Stripped off brakes and cleaned 'em of gunk. Need to order new boots/o-rings/pads,etc.
Carbs (lack of) next problem.
Really like Tachrevs single shock solution. My swingarm ain't as long as GS one so might need to investigate the angles if i use that one.
Scored a GPZ filler cap and bezel cut out of a busted tank (with a key!) for tank as no keys for present one.
