1980 Kz 750 E bobber maybe? was created by Goalieguy35
Bought a 1980 Kz 750 from original owner, that had sat for 12 years. Is all stock with a 4 into 1 Kerker pipe, and had a Vetter motorcycle highway fairing and a sissy bar in rear.

Plans are to get it going again and ride. I put pod air filters on it and i am getting some drag bars for it, to give it some bobber ish kind of look to it, don't know yet if i wanna cut rear end and make solo seat or what. Fun winter project!

Thats how i bought it.

Also bought same year parts bike ^ for cheap $ to have extra parts. Good wheels, forks, chain and sprockets, rubbers good. Extra carbs, rear tail light, blinkers, who engine, ( just needs new gaskets, and hopefully it will run  )

First i took fairing off and tank and seat to clean up the frame a little bit cause it was dirty and to cold to was out side.

Oiled the cylinders because it had sat for 12 years.

Tanks dirty but paint and inside are mint! :woohoo:

Took carbs apart because there were clogged like nothing ive ever seen before hahah. And cleaned everything in parts cleaner to loosen all the dryed up gas.

At that point the carbs were the cleanest thing going for the bike

Thats first sign of life!!! ran for a few seconds but needs to run and drive to get it going real good.

Sanded and preped the headers then painted with high heat flat black.

Cleaned surface of take and put 2 liters of coke to eat at the light surface rust inside. ( Dont worry the coke expired a few days earlier haha  ) The coke actually did a real good job with loosening the rust, then i flushed it with water w/ solvent and then a little bit of gas and its clean now.

Then put airfilter pods on!!!

This is what it looks like now, i took the pic before i put pods on. But thats how it sits now.

Still got work to do!

Let me know if you got any ideas or suggestions, right now im just doing things as i go with it!

here is most up to date!

Making good progress! :cheer:

The rubber diaphragms are an Achilles' heel of CV carbs. :pinch:

Those in the picture look torn. :(

Good Fortune! :)

I know the diaphragms are very delicate but they are not torn, i had them in the aluminum cans because i didnt want to soak the diaphragm over night. I had them soaking because there was a layer of dried gas on the needles and the diaphramgs wouldnt move at all. It was like open heart surgery to get them out ha i had to be very carefull.

But carbs deliver fuel with no leaks ( knock on wood ) so its all working and clean. Might need a cleaning again after i put some hours on it cause the hardened stuff may break up but well see!
