Nice work Peter,very cool.
Can I ask :the seat, is it original or did you recover it.? either way it looks perfect to me. One of the hardest things to get right on a Lawson, 3 seats later and I still can't get it just right.
A nos went for over £600 on ebay uk last year -and it wasn't perfect,(sometimes there is a reason they get left n the shelf 30 years later).
There is a company in USA doing quite nice repro's, seriously considering buying one, given up on getting a a copy made. Also a company in Germany doing them ,but they aren't ' just' right.
AS well as looking cool, the basket weave cover and step holds you in under hard acceleration, the front bit protects your DNA under heavy braking. One of the most distinctive bits of a Lawson rep -and also one of the hardest to get.
Very impressive I have frame 5354, one of the last of the z1000's.

The judges had no clue . First they handed me 2nd for 1970 then took it back and I didn`t even look at this one. The seat is original. I have bought and sold a few of them over the years.

I like it. I remember the new one that sat for 3 years at the local Kawasaki shop before it sold - if it were Firecracker Red I probably would have bought it - now that your project is done, what are you going to do with it? Make it a daily rider? A sunny Sunday afternoon rider? Or show it off at bike shows & rally's?
My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "
