GPz 550 Cafe project

Picked up an 84 GPz 550 for a couple bills. My intentions were to fix it up so th e wife could learn to ride. It had sat for 6 years with the previous 2 owners never tackling the rebuild, never trying to get it to run. I brought it home,got it to fire up for 10 seconds. That's all I needed, it is now a rolling chassis waiting for some parts to show.

Most of the parts were just tacked on.

cool...i did the same thing and now it is back burner looking for a decent tank...

I have a vision, Jeff Pochodowicz has a hot looking GPZ. It has inspired me.

check out the KZR e-bay posts thread and the link to some trick gpz stuff on my last c-list post...if i had less projects i would go try and haggle for the carbs and buy the whole gpz550 project...c-list monterey ca.

Did a rebuild on the motor. Put it back in the chassis and fired it today. I was concerned that I had the cam off by a tooth when I put it back together. Had to spin the motor with the plugs out to pump some oil around, turned over real hard even though I lubed everything. As soon as the oil started around it loosened right up.

Now for cosmetics. I would like to find a slip on that is really short. I would like the exhaust to end just off the header pipe.
