I just got to working on the bikes yesterday for the first time. That garage we rented was a mess but now its clean as hell. I could live in there:D It took me about a half hour to 45 minutes but the engine is just resting in the frame. The only thing still attached to it is the chain and it has a master link. Headers didn't look too bad but the mufflers, which are welded on, look terrible. I was just going to grind them off anyway. All the wiring is right there and the coil is unbolted too so i think i'm just about done stripping this bike down for what i need. Ill post a video later on if we go to the garage again today.

I went to the garage yesterday and pulled the motor completely out of the frame. Wasn't as easy as i thought.. There was a bump in the front of the crank case that made it damn near impossible to get it out. At first i thought it was where the oil filter sat like on an old honda CB but it was actually part of the crank case. I also have all of the wiring out except for the stuff behind the headlight bucket that i still have to unplug. I also have all of the parts in a big box so its all organized. Ill take pics next time i go, i forgot the camera last time sorry guys:D

Ill keep you guys posted,
KT

m'kay.. i just got off the phone with this guy who has like 5 craftsman lawnmowers sitting in his lawn that he wants gone. He said he would take 15 bucks each and i could pick out whatever one i wanted to use. So, i will be going to tractor supply i think next week for some fenders and maybe some wheels and tires. I already have some plates of iron to weld up the mounts for the KZ400 engine. like i said, the engine is out, its just a matter of removing the Briggs and dropping this motor in. Also, i decided not to make the frame from scratch, obviously:D so the lawntractor is the way to go i think. Im still going to use the single carb setup too, im thinking of using an old BS36 from a KZ1000 parts carb set maybe to see how it runs without spending any money on a keihin. Ill keep you guys posted!!

ok... i haven't done an update on this topic for a while now and i think its about time for one. This just turned into a duel type project. The lawntractor is now tore all to hell. I have the whole rear end apart along with the hydrostatic drive (differential) and i have a perteh good idea for the rear axel. I plan on shaving off the parts of the differential cases that clamp the axel in place and just junking the rest. This way, ill have bearings and a good mount to the frame. Waiting on an oil filter for the KZ400 engine. Further inspection of the crankcase after draining the watery oil showed that the cases were like new on the inside still so no damage was done. After some oil, ill give er' a kick and she'll fire right up. Now, for the other side of the duel project..

This short slide show gave me a great idea as far as building an actuall kart rather thank f***ing with this lawnmower. The only reason im continuing on the lawnmower is because we have to race them at the end of the year (mine against all the other kids' in my shop class) and the teacher is putting down 100 bucks on the winner. I still have to determine the cost of tube steele and the hardware for this but i think i can pull it off. I already made the measurements and drew up some plans. Basically, ill get the mower done first with the KZ400 engine all mounted up and ready. Meanwhile, ill be welding up my badass buggy type thing and when thats done (like a rolling frame thats all set up except for the motor) then ill pull the engine from the mower just to weld up the mounts. Then ill put it back in the mower and wait till the race. Ill have a video tomorrow after i get out of school.

Ok, the lawnmower at school has been ripped apart for about a month. I removed the differential and Cut off the bumps that mount the rear axel and clamp the axel bearings in. Now all i have to do is go to menards and buy some high grade bolts. I also plan on doing some welding to those clamps when i have the axel all straight and mounted as well as welded in the center,(since the axels are split for the gears in the differential). I'll keep you guys posted.

REPLY PLEASE TO SHOW ME THAT PEOPLE STILL CARE :D

Thanks guys,
KT
