Sissy Bar
14 May 2010 09:08
I got a sissy bar off a '78 KZ750 and the bolt holes are about 1" shorter than my '82 KZ750. Does anyone know if they changed the frame or any suggestions on how rig it to fit?
Thx.

A 78 750 is a Twin. The 750-H3 is a four.
So their frames are different. As for fitment until someone else chimes in, you'll probably have to figure that out for yourself. Drill more holes, maybe?

Where does this mount to the frame? My 82 LTD has two brackets that bolt up to the shocks and frame and the sissy bar mounts to that.
Is that what you have, or are you saying the sissy mounts right to the frame? Pic please.

They didn't really change the frame. The 750-4 is just a different bike.
Sissy bars fit two ways that I know of.
A sissy bar by itself usually has kinda the same shape as the frame grip (grab bar), with a forward mount at the shock & a rear mount near the turn signal.
The other type of sissy bar mounts to a luggage rack & is kinda straight. On these the rack is installed in place of the frame grip, then the sissy bar is bolted to the rack. Make sense?
