kz1000 retro police chop

hey guys just wanted to post some pics and a short vid of my latest project completed. it is a 1977 kz1000 police bike(ex L.A.P.D.)i made/painted everything on it. had the frame/wheels powdercoated. i made the frame with a rear leafspring suspension.

Very cool. Did you take any picks of the rear suspension as you built it?

Very cool chop... I bet it's fun to pull up to the local burger joint, rideing that!

Very pretty. But it sounds like you have a misfire, or one cylinder is not running. I say that because of the sound and because of the slow throttle response you get.

thanks for the replies guys. yes the bike really isn't running all that great but i think that is related to my charging problem. i thoroughly cleaned the carbs(dip ect) and put a filter on it before i even put a drop of gas in them so i couldn't see it being the carbs. i will prolly check valves and such over the coming week. today i put a volt meter across the battery when idling and it read in the 8 volt range, very low!! i think the regulator is shot in it. i will be buying another one right quick after i check them out a little better.

Dude I like the way you did away with the fairing but still incorperated the lights

That thing kicks so much ass. You need to add a shotgun mount, and get a CHiPs uniform to wear when you ride.

How does your state feel about the lights and siren being on there? In PA, they are illegal even if you never turnt hem on on the street.


You need to jump on Chop Cult or Chopper Underground and show that thing off.
