Phase Two is underway...
13 Mar 2010 02:35
The nice UPS man arrived yesterday with a 50lb box of goodies from Mr. Turbo!
I've has this '78 kz1000 for about four years now, and have only put 300km each summer on it - shameful I know.
I've been working on stability with the engine and frame work. Now that the turbo is here, with any luck at all, this summer will be fun.
So far I'm pleased with the kit. Its exactly as advertised with no nasty surprises. They supplied decent stuff like a mikuni carb and the coating on the headers and weld quality etc seems good. Also, they were easy to talk to and up front about what kit would and would not do.
The only actual work involved is plumbing the oil lines and fashioning the exhaust pipe. When I get a chance I'll post some pics.

Hopefully the pictures will post up...
The box!
Opened up...
Boxes of Boxes...
Gotta read these...
Everything out in the open...
Unrelated sort of, I got this neat crimper from Eastern Beaver. Much nicer than the hardware store kind, The sample is my first crimp with it.

a turbo with a banana pipe is actually much quieter than most people think, the turbodoes a good job of muffling the exhuast noise

They supplied the materials to make the banana pipe actaully (a flange, some bolts and length of 2.5" pipe). I'm not 100% sure which way to go with it. I think I'll make the banana for now and noodle over what would look/fit better.
