Hi All...Finally got a kz650B to tear into. Look forward to getting lots of info from those that have done it before...
Couple of quick questions so I can get started.
1. Manual - Is a Clymer good enough or is there a factory service manual out there somewhere.
2. I need to get her running to find out the state of the engine first so I know I need a petcock for the tank - any ideas? Ebay etc? Good parts sites?
3. The frame S/N is KZ650B 519197 What does this tell me? Where can I find the engine no.?
I guess that's it for now...let me know if you see something glaring in the pics I need to look out for.
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Welcome to KZR
A Factory shop manual is the way to go
For the petcock try Z1 enterprises
Your bike was assembled in Lincoln Nebraska
Your motor number is on the right side by the oil fill
Looks like a nice project you got there

Thanks for the lead on Z1...
A quick look under the poorly painted tank revealed purple paint...haha...it won't go back to that if that was the original color...
Will search for the factory manual as well...
Thanks again.

Welcome Rob.
The classified sections here and at www.kz650.info/ , by asking members, and ebay, are good sources for manuals and parts.
Do go through the maintenace schedule to get your new 650 road worthy.

Edit to ask about this engine no.

based on the codes I found this is either a B2 or C2 - is that right?
