Hey, if you need carbs, I have a few sets. I have the VM26's that came stock on the bike, and came off a running bike (running until I started dropping tools down the cam chain tunnel). I also have a set of BS36's from an RF900. If you need something, let me know.

Mark you were right on the money. I took the two carbs out that have been soaking, and I started blowing thru ports. Out of two carbs I had three blocked ports. Poked out the gunk, and blew 'em out. Now they will get a soak in the ultrasonic cleaner and hopefully that will work.

Adam, thanks for the offer, but I think I'm set for carbs. My VM26's, while funky, are complete. I want to get it running on those. I also got a set of BS34's for $10 when I bought that GSXR. They will need to be modified since they are from a zook, but I bet I can handle it. I'll need to add vacuum ports to three of them for syncing purposes. I should be able to make something work.

the ultra sonic should do the trick.
i sent my vm33's to the dealer for an ultrasonic bath. they had sat on my bike for 22 years unused. it took 2 bathes but they worked out just fine. as a matter of fact they have a happy new home and are being abused daily(in a good way), by Larry C.

Thanks guys, I'm definantly starting with the 20s and 120s. Unfortunately, I won't get find out how well that they will work for a little while. I'm just rebuilding them for something to do. I was waiting on an order from Del City. Now I have my fuse block, and I can start fabbing a battery box, and electrical mounts. I think that I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For the fabrication part anyway.

Here's a couple of before and after pics of my carbs.

Damn the insides of those float bowls are funky. That thing literally sat with carbs full of gas since 1993. When I got into the dirty carb in the picture, some things are still wet in there. Definantly not gasoline any more.

Those carbs look a lot better!

What did you clean them with? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post.

There's nothing like nasty chemicals to get shit clean. And those carb bodies do look clean! ;)

They got a bath in the good ole Barryman's B-12 for a couple of days, and then they sat for a while. After that, I got a parts washer, and so they soaked for 3 days in mineral spirits. After that I still had blocked passages, so I physically removed the obstructions, and finally they went through an ultrasonic cleaner. Probably overkill, but thats my nature.

I need to look closely at an exploded diagram of the carburetor b/c I had a couple of extra o-rings in my carb kit.

Well, I decided that I really like the fusebox that Otakar showed previously, so a quick order with Del City got me a new, 8 slot fusebox. I really like the idea of ATC/ATO fuses, since you can buy them at any gas station.

I'm really happy with it for only $7.

I also decided to re-assemlble my ebay dashboard to try and figure out a mounting loction.

It's unlikely that I'll get much more done this weekend. It's our anniversary, and we'll be going to the beach for the day to celibrate tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get to see some nice scenery before the oil spill makes it's way ashore in Texas. Thanks, BP. 11 lives lost, $700million rig gone, $100million relief well that needs to be drilled, $6million/day cleanup by BP, and they (BP) claim that they will pay for all damages. You can bet that gas will be an extra $0.75/gallon this summer based on the speculation on this event alone. Whoever built that blowout preventer will have some questions to answer. Rant over.
