a thicker base gasket is an option but u loose your squish clearance. it is better to mill the pistons. but lets not go there . everything may be just fine as Joe predicts. :)

i am running RC400 cams. they have 260* duration at .040". .429" lift.
i am actually running a .040" alum base gasket. but not to reduce compression. my block and cases have been milled to get them true to each other and the crank. some cases are out of true to the crank, from the factory. i selected the base gasket thickness to get the deck height that i wanted. this was chosen by my squish tolerance requirements. i like to run .040" squish to help prevent detonation.
when u take the motor apart save the old base and head gasket and measure and record the compressed thicknes. these #'s will come in handy if u need to make block hieght adjustments latter.

Is it only me or does it seem like Mark mentions his "squish clearance" every chance he gets?  Sounds like a personal problem to me...:silly:

Those pistons look like they will knock big holes in the head! :P

Geez Craig, I was only going to mention the nice lady that gave me a ride back to your place, you didn't have to spill the whole story! I really need to put this crap in my own thread, and stop hijacking Josh's thread.

Well I drug out one of my spare heads today. (Motorcycle head that is. ) It's time to start prepping this one to receive those K410's. This head will be sent away for some strategic internal lightening. So the first order of business is to make a little clearance for those bigger lobes in the lifter bores. Monkey see monkey do:

Got done clearancing those tappet bores for the bigger cams. Now those K410's are happy to spin around in there. I know the pictures make it look like the corners of the lobes will hit, but it's just the camera angle.

Whoohoo! Thats some purdy looking grinding. Might as well go whole hog and make her a 1200. No use wasting your time and money on a little 1075 :P

Yeah, 1075 is such a small engine!!

Wait a sec, I just realized how much I spent to get 807cc.

If any of you guys had spent the last two months down here in Houston, you would know why I'm not going with a 1200cc. www.weather.com/weather/monthly/77379?month=-1 Average relative humidity in Houston in August is 90%. Freaking sweating bullets!

I want to be able to ride the thing without melting down. Besides, I already have the pistons, no going back now. Don't forget, I already have a fast bike. BTW I know you're kidding Adam.

I can't remember Josh, did you put passenger pegs on your kz? Also, when you get a chance at home, could you measure the length of your zx10 passenger foot rest brackets from centerline between the mounting bolts to the foot peg? I need to figure out d passenger peg system for my build. Thanks bro.

I don't have them on there yet. I actually bought some 2nd gen zx-10 passenger pegs to match my rearsets that will get incorporated.

I'll get measurements on 1st gen and 2nd gen passenger pegs when I get home. It seems that the 2nd gen mounts are quite a bit longer IIRC.
