Here are some pics from when I fetched the bike.
The Paint Garage!
Yes, after many months without bikebuilding, some family issues, my mum got serious ill just before Easter, and passed away later this summer, I am starting up again.
I am not done with my 1000J Project , but since I was able to borrow a suitable garage for painting, I decided to paint both my projects.
But since this thread is for my lovely 1000R, its only this is about.
Paint...
Well, the tank was dented and rusty on the outside, the inside is shocking good.
I found out soon that the only thing I could do was to remove the old paint chemical, paint remover.
And here is one of the reason why I used the paint remover, some of this rust was not visible, the thin "spider-net" was underneath the fresh paint.
Also the underside, here is the paint remover bottle.
Before sanding.
So, after some hours with paint remover, I degreased the tank and primed it with "rustmilk", its stop the little rust which always is left from start over again.
And 24 hours after, this is the only primer I trust on, 2K epoxy sealer primer.
And since my good friend Mr Morton is in painting mode, his stuff also is hanging on the string.
Priming.
Removing small dents.
And after a long brain drain, I have decided not to use to original decals, so I need to plaster down the mountings...
And... The colour? Something is obvious...
BUT, I will use some other colour which maybe was not a Kawasaki colour back then, but is now...
OK, its a little strange to make the colour choices and pattern when the bike is not built at all... In fact the only parts that is done is what you see in this thread. :silly:
This bike will be simple and raw, nothing unnecessary will be here, only the colours will maybe challenge some...
I will try to take the design from this picture, its not the same tank, but I like the decals underneath the kawasaki sign on the tank.
The Kerker decals!
I have ordered vintage, or new vintage NGK decals, Castrol decals and these Kerker.
So, the other colour is ORANGE.
A well known Kawasaki colour in these days.
So the plan is to use the orange where there is blue.
So, to work!
The result... so far, maybe I will adjust some small details.
Its not easy to find the right colour combinations, but I am very satisfied so far.
The plan is a thin silver border between the orange and green.
The whole bike will only have three colours, silver , green and orange. :woohoo:
Yes, then I have tweaked a little on the orange, and putted on the silver stripe.
I think it looks nice, still waiting for the Kawasaki decals before I can put 2K clearcoat on.
Here are some other decals.
So, still waiting for my Kawasaki decals, but in the meanwhile I can put on the Kerker decals.
Measuring out so the decals look the same on both sides...
So no its waiting for postman Pat, to bring my last decals...or maybe his cat has eaten them up...

No big progress, only brainstorm now and then. :silly: :silly:
I have tried to make an blueprint, but its hard to do the curves and bends and at the same time measure them correctly.
Ofcourse if it only where angles and boxes it would be easier to draw it, but I want this build up with steel pipes, and some curves here and there...
I am not any skilled 3D drawer... And I believe if this continues with the same drawing speed I never will be done...   :pinch:
(And the computer will ends its life outside in the snow, hehe)
So, I was thinking of making an wooden model of the swing, and ship it to you, could that be an option you think?
That will surely make its easier for me. :woohoo:
So what will you suggest to use for the main swing construction in tube size, diameter?
And the tube diameter for all the bracing?
Then I can start on making the wooden model soon.
