Kz 1000 cafe/track bike project

Ok guys ... Here is my latest project... 78 kz 1000 cafe bike. You can call it a slow race bike or a bare bones play bike but it should be a lot of fun. There aren't any track around here so It's just gonna a be my run around town bike... Made on a major budget!! I've been huntin around for cheap parts and am slowly getting stuff gathered up... piece by piece. Here is what I got so far.
07 GSXR1000 forks, radial calipers, 08 gsxr 1000 lower triple, 50mm clipons, 07 stabilizer. 2000 ZRX 1100 swingarm, rearwheel, brake, sprocket,
pressed out gsxr stem. made bushing for kz stem.. reinstalled stem and mixed matched bearings and races to make it all work. I may get a friend(machinest) to help me make a top tripple. I am still figurin it all out as I go you guys kinda get the jist of it. Here are a few pics... Next I get to work on gettin the frame braced up.

get a hold of irishwill he has done the same frontend conversion and has a bunch of extra top trees all ready made up and they are anodized black great looking stuff and awesome skill level you wont be disappointed

He still has a few sets left? Haven't seen him on here for awile...didn't know if with his new job he is/was able to get on here anymore. You know if he has any of his outboard support plates left?

stupid question so i might as well be the one to ask right? :laugh: how do you get clip ons mounted straight and how do ya keep em straight when ya back off the throttle at 100 plus?

I'm gonna say with three pinch bolts they ain't goin anywhere. But on my zx 7 forks and triples the clip ons are bolted to the fork and the bottom of the triple so they are line up.

yes irishwill has full sets of tree's and bearing supports left he did an awesome job with them i have one of his outboard bearing supports on my big bike. the man does awesome work. he is away for 28 day's then off for 4 but if you pm him he will get back to you ben is a great guy and real easy to deal with.

A little update... i've been workin on the frame a little here and there. I about got all the tabs and extra crap off the frame now... a few more spots to work on. About half the gussets are mocked up... the left side of the frame has been clearenced for chain. I don't know that I had to do it yet.... but it's alot easier now than later. You can see the tubes are now flush with the stamped motor mount. The subframe gussets are hollow and will be drilled and an interior tube welded in after I get everything TIG welded. just tryin to get everything smoothed and flaws removed or filled (NO bondo here!)
