Rickman from OZ
14 Sep 2009 01:40 - 14 Sep 2009 01:41
Hi guys this looks like the place for my Rickman pics. This is what it looked like until about a year ago.
It has been like this since the late 80's,I ve owned this bike since about 82 .
So it was time for a bit of resurection with plenty of polishing ,cleaning etc,I also put in new forkseals, caliper seals wheel bearings etc.

Fitted an APE clutch pac, took the sump off for a good cleanas the bike hadnt been started in nearly 18 years and more polishing, the frame still has the original nickel on it and polishes up a treat.

Along the way there where a few headaches like trying to find a front master cylinder rebuild kit(Lockeed),I ended up with a cheap aftermarket M Cylinder but it was for a single disc setup so I swapped it for the one I had on my Guzzi that came off an FJ1100 yammy and doesnt look out of place,on one of the first rides I lost the top stearing head nut but ended up finding a replacement at work that will do for now.

Looks like a sweet bike.I'm working on one too,but I have more questions than answers.I think mine has the original triple clamps, but I believe the forks and wheels are off of a '78 Kawi. The loop under the seat was removed, and the tubes that support the the passenger pegs are gone.I suspect it may have been prepped as a racer, which is fine as that is what I'm doing(AHRMA and our vintage series here in Canada,VRRA).Mine has a different lower shock mount which no one has seen before.I've checked at Mid-Ohio,Daytona and different web sites with no luck.Instead of a "U" mount it has a thick blade with two holes about 3 1/2" apart to give more of a laydown position as a second choice.I just wondered if you've seen one like this?
The last one is me at Daytona last month on my '75 Z1.Cheers.Jerry
