Spring break project.
19 Mar 2009 14:01
So for spring break this year I kicked my dad's pickups out of his shop and basically took over his welder and metal equipment. But it's all for a good cause.
The bike is a 1979 KZ650C. I'm trying to go for a look like what kawasaki would have made back in the day if the would have tried making it look like one of today's crotch rockets. I'm trying to use as many stock original parts as possible. Except for the shocks of course. I saw a set of piggybacks on someone else's bike and knew I had to have a set. The engine is coming out of a 77 650 B and its currently torn down in my apartment at college. I plan on having a batteryless ignition system ready in a few days. The paint is going to be a dark metallic charcoal color.
Let me know what you think. any suggestions or comments are more then welcome.

Haha. I know what you mean. We gave it a go but now we're just friends. She surprises every guy. When you meet her she's all girly and hot, then she blows your doors off when she passes you on her bike at an impossible lean angle going impossibly fast in a corner. Then you remember she weighs 150 pounds less then you. Still she surprises you.
Back on the bike note. Any suggestions for handlebars?? I am going to use the original footpegs but flip upside down and side to side. The seat will be an inch or so lower. I want something that looks right but will keep the weight off my wrists.

Becker, Look thru cataloges, I like euro bend or superbike bars, 3-4" rise clear tank nicely and are clean looking w/out putting a lot of weight on your' wrists. G

Both great suggestions. I like the look of the euro bars. I'm gonna have to start looking for a cheap set. I was planning to make my own seat but I like the ZRX seat too. If I find one for extremely cheap I'll get it but as for now I'm gonna try my hand at home made. Thanks for the input though. I just got in from the shop and I got most of the electrical components in place. More pics tomorrow.
