1981 KZ1000 K-1 LTD Build

Hey everyone. I'm going to have a looooot of questions while I go so I figured I would start a project thread! Honestly being on this site and asking questions about my 1978 650SR got me really into these bikes. I love all the projects going on here and it really inspired me to do my own.
I always wanted a bigger cc bike and 1000cc for cheap money was perfect and satisfies my "wrenching needs". I needed another project!

AHA! Success! excellent, just had to use photobucket.
Now I'm going to have a ton of questions as I go through, but have a couple already.
First, I want to use LED lights all around. How do I wire in LED lights? I may be wrong, but there is there some kind of wiring I need to add to make the LED's work with the stock harness? How do they get set up?
Secondly, this bike ran and drove. It started a little hard, but ran extremely smooth! I then ran a compression test and my gauge showed like 15-30psi! on all cylinders! which astonished me. I added some oil to the cylinders and the numbers slightly went up to around 60psi. I assume I need rings, what else could be the issue? Could this mean the valves are out of whack? I'm going to dig into this motor over the weekend since I finally got everything stripped last weekend.
This is really exciting. It's my first time for a complete tear down on a bike and couldnt be more excited. Everythings organized and labeled and so far so good. I guess when I get into the motor, I can see what direction I want to go (either stock rebuild or bore).
Now the only thing I have in mind now for modification is maybe shortening the fenders, blend in a tail light, some small sharp blinkers, maybe one all digital gauge...
