engine swap
15 Aug 2008 20:09 - 15 Aug 2008 20:10
Hello I am new to this site and as I am starting my first project was wanting to know if it has been tryed. I am wanting to graft a 00 zx12r motor into my kz frame with updated front and rear suspension. I have started the suspension work but was looking for ideas on the motor swap. Sorry no pics they are to large.

Sounds like a good idea. I have not heard or come across this motor going in the KZ frame before. Wonder if it's worth it with the ZRX1100/1200 available?

have yoo mocked up the motor in the frame with the swing arm and chain in place? the chain rubbing against the frame is where most large motor swaps cause problems but good luck with it and do keep us posted with pics.

Sounds like you are trying to build a nice monster-sleeper!
As for the pics, you can upload them to www.imageshack.us and either chose to scale them for forums, or upload it full-sized, and use the thumbnail forum code.

Hey good looking bike. What i want to know is how did you get the low stance out front. I would like to have my bike (77 1000a) low like that. Are they original forks? Let me know.

probly the first for the motor, diff not the first for the swingarm/frontend.. i have a zx9 with a zx12 rim on my z1 now.. but going back to the zx9 rear rim... also putting the frontend on aswell... i have a 05 honda cbr600rr motor sitting in my z1 right now.. not much left.. just time and a header
heres a pic for months ago.. still in this state. havent had any time.. that frontend is off a late 80-early 90s yam fzr600
the other bike(a 80 kz 750) im bulding has a 00 zx7r motor sitting in it..probly just going to run a 1990 zx6r ream rim on a custom swingarm... duno about the front yet.. more or less going to be a sumwhat stock looking kz750 with a beast ass motor haha
