'81 LTD goes on a diet

Howdy:

New to the board and just introduced myself. I am starting a new project with my '81 1000 LTD. As you can see in the 'before' pic, it's looking kinda bloated and boring. I will be putting it on a diet and changing up some aspects to give a more aggressive, cafe style feel. Not planning any engine mods other than rebuilding the carbs. I plan to trim the seat, add a rear deck, new tires, hbars (or clip ons) and rear tail light. Also will try a 'trick' I learned on my H-D builds to give it a 'unique' stance.

Well, after many stops and starts, it's completed. still having fits with the carbs at post time, but confident i can get it sorted. here's the finished product. mods include; Tomasselli adj. clip-ons, 18" rear mag (was a 16"), Bridgestone Spitfires, homemade aluminum rear deck and leather seat, 5 3/4" Bates style hlight, 7/8" dia. H-D Tomasselli throttle and grips, CB750 front mc, homemade peg mounts and H-D pegs, $6 auto parts tali light, chopped and tweaked Kerker 4-1 exhaust.

Nice bike. I just started my 1st project. I'm doing the rear deck/seat in fiberglass. Care to share how you made yours?? Want to make another one, lol?

maiden voyage to Marcus Dairy this a.m. parked in the high-dollar, european, full race leather, geezer area. garnered lotsa 'donkey faces' - ha! good ride and a fun ride - 'cause nothin' fell off and nothin' broke.
