it followed me home, honest was created by Duck
likely be a donor to other projects
kz1000m1

just back from picking up the kz1000m1

-wiring is a mess, three blinker modules?, rectifier looks like it smoked but is easy enough to fix from electronic parts bin
-no keys, no locks.
-small dents in tank but not too bad, couldn't get cap open so may be trashed inside.
-fork tubes are nice, smooth, and oily tree kind of beat looking
-fenders are good
-DID Aluminum rims are 'OK', need a little sanding out of nicks. front spokes are rusty. rear is 16" good spokes. I prefer 18".
-front brake system in great shape.
-engine had silicone for valve cover gasket and some kind of yellow sealer for clutch cover. Looks like it ran since because oil was well used. Shows 38k mile so likely in pretty good shape.
-kerker chrome head pipes in decent shape. a little rust but not beat up or blued. no baffle, chrome can is kind of beat up.
-headlight bracket has been sawn through on one side. Looks weldable.
-fenders rust free and only a few small dings
-looks to be recover on saddle skin, pan is nice
-green faced tach doesn't look like a Kaw part
-BS34 carbs slides are free and diaphrams appear good by the lift, cover port, see if slide hods test.

will try to post better photo tomorrow.

have to do the inventory this weekend and see what's still missing in the way of getting some bikes assembled.

All right Duck! But inquiring minds have to know...what did this one cost you?

That looks like a nice find Duck. As far as your gas cap issue is concerned, I had the same problem when I bought my 650 CSR. I used a finishing nail to drive the roll pin out of the rear of the hinge (didn't have a pin punch). Once I got it off I took the two small screws off that hold all the guts in the cap and cleaned and lubed it all up. Been using it ever since.

$300 more than I should have. But, I'm supposed to be getting a free GS550 next week so it will even out.
