Get some measurements ASAP and let me know while I can still change direction with my project . Even the 600Kat would have about 25hp more than the 550 motor . The GSXR/Kat 750 motors can make lots of power , while still maintaining the classic air-colled DOHC look .

well i didnt get the kz550 to the shop(about 1hr 45mins away from my house). but i started working on the motor..the motor is a 98 tuna motor.. doesnt have the side covers or carbs. but he told me it ran great.. just sold the covers, carbs.. the kz1000 carb boots work fine with a little work.. the z1r 1000 carbs will work with a little work.... hopfuly haha... gonna trying and use the stock 550 harness.. if not he has the tuna stock one.. but still gonna try and run it with the 550 set up with my 1000 carbs.. will give it the old school look. + i already have the carbs haha

gonna load the bike up tom morning before work and take it to the shop after work..

really havent gotten that far into this.. the swing arm was amost a stright fit.. i cut it down on either side. so im going to have use washer to get it center right, i probly could have gotten away with just shaven sum on either side.as for the bolt/nut havent even tryed to mess with that yet(i need another stocker), probly gonna have to play around with different spacers and what not like i did on my z1 might have to get sumthing CNC'd to work. but im going with a different motor so it will give me a 1/2in give or take to play with. as for the front.. just sum all-balls racing bearings. frontend fender needed custom backets made(havent made them yet). i have the stuff but been working alot so havent had time. so thats about all right now haha.. i have a set zx6 rear sets that im going to use also. i have the tuna motor but i think i might not use it and get a ninja motor..havent done any mock up on it.. just dont feel its right to us haha

Rollingstock ,
Did you get any measurments from the Suzuki motor yet.............I'm waiting impatiently to know how "easy" this swap will be . I've got a frame stripped and ready for powdercoat , but I can still modify if the Suzuki looks close .

Any update yet ?? I'm watching a Katana600 motor that sells tomorrow . Don't want to buy it unless I know that it will fit the space available . I found some Kat600 dyno charts , they make low to mid 70's . About 25-30hp more than the stock 550 motor .

Oh yes! Reminds me of my `81, did the poor boy cafe racer look, had a smoked plexiglass 1/4 fairing, K&N's, dropped bar and an RC pipe. I rode the original Gold Seal tires way past their life and my brother caught me pulling the front wheel in my parents driveway, damn I miss that bike. :(

Hey I haven't checked craigslist today, gotta go!

Sure it looks OK now, but wait until I really make it pretty, with some chrome and paint and some new tires and grips and the wiring. Don't forget the gearing, and the LED's and, and, and....
