save your money,a good dyna s will be more than enough for your needs.should have bushings instead of bearings if you keep stock swingarm although you could upgrade to needle bearings;)

yep yours had bushings instead of bearings origionally.its a pretty expensive swap by the time you buy the new shaft and everything .if you want to go that route id suggest just swapping out to kz1000 wheels and swingarm with remote res mastercylinder for rear brake;)

I'm jealous...I keep dreaming of stumbling across a Z1 in someone's garage...but on to my only suggestion (at this time:) ), to lower your front and, all you have to do is drop in 650 springs...and I happen to know where a set is (about 10 meters from me..wink...wink).

I believe this mystery part is the rear tank strap if I'm not mistaken. Keep that gas cap they a R-tardedly big on eBay... in good condition worth several hundred dollars to our friends in Japan.

Know what you mean Bluemeanie....I was excited that I actually recognized the rear brake switch (just adjusted mine last night) and then I saw Gringo beat us to it. Well, at least there was no money on the line.

KZ250LTD, thanks for all the great pics! You have our dream bike! Good luck and I'm looking forward to more pics of your progress.

Though it still needs a lot of attention, it is still a nice find as it is 99% there. It’s a barn find not a restored rider… you did well IMHO!

That speedo most likely is toasted inside by the looks of the needle position. With the broken fins I was wondering if the cracked clock bracket was from impact or vibration, could you tell?

It’s really too bad about the paint, the sides look good from a distance. How deep are those gouges in the point and clutch covers? Think you can polish them out? I did get a really nasty scratch out of a Honda set. If you can’t find a cheap spare somewhere and not up to dealing with the mess you can send it to me once it gets warm out and I’ll do my best to get it out for you. No charge, I enjoy doing that kind of part restoration even if it is a nasty job (yeah, I'm nuts ) If I can find them I’ll post a before and after of the ones I did about a year ago.

With the miles on it and fin condition of the head it might be better to try and find a replacement unless you don’t mind it that way. Wiring harness is a #1 candidate for pulling and replacing or at least re-looming where it needs it. I re-loomed mine and it wasn’t easy but you will end up knowing your wiring better than your wife after doing it!

Oh and what is it with red and you??? Just kidding! (Though I can pretty well guess the color the bike will be after it is done!)
