i just picked up the frame from the powder coaters. i think it came out fantastic! now just need to get the other stuff to the platers...... im going crazy not being able to ride this year

Just keep thinking of the wide grin you will have on your face when you do get to ride.. That frame looks great.

Rob that frame does look good. I just bought a titled roller 77 650 C-1 and I'm thinking since it is already pretty well stripped down it might be a good idea to have it powder-coated. Who did you use and did they do the blasting as well and probably most important what do they charge? You live pretty close to me.

Man! that's a great start. I just started with a 78 frame, I blasted it white and primed and painted it. I wished I had it powder coated, anyway I too had the block on a 1974 Z1900 1075ed. On went a fresh rebuild rack o 29 smoothies. Now im working on the battery box and wire loom.

You look good there with the frame, for sure.

Thanks guys, Gringo the frame was done by a local company in Bedford it went through a burn off oven, then blasted, then a sealer applied and then two coats of powder. total cost with tax 380.00 big ones LOL!

he is going to spray my new pistons and bearings with that dry lubricant, and the tops with some kind of heat guard also going to spray the inside of the header to stop the bluing.

Looks great ! I love to start a project like that also. The finished project always turns out beautiful. Add pics as you progress if you can.

WOW! has it been awhile. moving at a snails pace here:lol: but here is a small update! new swingarm, it is a trac dynamics only went 4 over and 10 wide.

hopeing to have it bolted to frame real soon:laugh:

Better to take your time and do it slowly and RIGHT than to rush stuff and find out later it didn't work out the way you wanted it too.
I can't wait to tear into my bike. I for sure will not take any shortcuts or cheap ways out. Doesn't matter if it costs in the end more than a new hayabusa and isn't nearly as fast it will be exactly what I want in a bike. Powder coating is the way to go IMO. I will go another step before that and gusset the frame in all the critical places so I experience no frame flex.
Keep up with the pictures.
And I ask one more thing. Did the swing arm com like that ready to bolt on or did you have to custom weld the shock struts? Also is it for the stock rear wheel or are you going with nice aftermarket wheels? I rather like that idea as long as I can get the wheels to line up without having issues with tracking and spacers etc. To get some nice light wheels on the bike would help with the unsprung weight giving it some advantages.

saxjonz,yeah the swingarm comes ready to bolt right on,they weld on all shock mounts, you tell them what you want and they make it for you.

the plan right now is to run the stock wheels,just having the ltd rear rim turned into a 17inch and 4.5 inches wide with a 160 tire.
