'81 750 ltd project was created by KZPens
I bought the '81 750LTD about 2 years ago planning to ride it for a couple of month and then move on to something newer, then I came across this site while troubleshooting a problem... What happened next you'll see in the pics below :silly:
This is how I got her
Just going to remove the bad rust under the seat..
might as well do the whole frame
might as well, might as well etc.
Short clip of engine running (with baffle and packing for now), not tuned yet just cleaned the BS34 carb and put some larger jets 140 / 42.5 into it.
Things to do:
lose centerstand
mount zx6 taillight and integrate turnsignals
paint & mount modified tail from v45 honda
paint & mount sidecovers I made
relocate petcock from KZ1000P tank ( it's hitting the frame ) and find a gascap or weld in a different bung, paint
mount 3piece seat I made
mount dual 4,5" headlights
buy front turnsignals
tune carb
Maybe another 3 month... we'll see.
Oh, and no original parts in good usable condition were hurt during the process

Hi, not sure how well our parts will interchange but let me know what you are looking for, aside from the tank and the rubber between carbs and airbox you can have it for the cost of shipping just shoot me a pm.
As for the look I'm going for... don't know what to call it, I wanted a larger tank to hold more gas, rearsets for the riding position, hated the mini apehanger handlebars again riding position, the dual front and taillight for more visibility. I guess it's the functional look , hope it's not going to be too bad when I'm done.

Just kidding about dibs, I've got mine running like a top. Get it finished and plan on riding it up to the Barbers Motorpark Vintage Races and Rally in Oct. Of course I'm looking @ a ride down to the coast late summer early fall and I do have some friends in Pennsacola I haven't seen in a while. It looks lie it is going to be something to see up close.

Barbers in Oct sounds like a possibility, would be a nice trip. If you ever come to pensacola drop me a message here, I'll have a cold one or two ready in the fridge or we can meet up someplace like the beach. I would suggest early fall though, weather is much better.
Placed the parts I had today to see where I'm actually going with it  and took some pics.
don't like the seat and tail really will have to see what I do with it.
rearsets
still have to make up my mind which color to go on the tank, sides, cowl. Thought about flat black with white stripes

Well, this is how it sits right now. Need to tune the carbs some more, but it runs pretty good as it is right now.
Plans for the future, complete taredown once I have the front a back fitted and powdercoat/repaint, and redo the seat which I'm not happy with. A '93 zx7 swingarm is on the way in the mail and so are the '97 zx7 forks, not sure but I'll probably use zx7 wheels too.
The engine is going to get an oil pan and oil cooler from an '82R1 which I already have, other than that I'm not sure.
Some pics
Some details
Valve cover from a canadian '83GPZ.
Carbs Mikuni BS34 from a '82R1
Tank I'm not sure kz900/1000 ?? Sealed it with Red Kote after cleaning it with acid. Welded a new bung in and used a pop up gas cap.
Cowl form a V45 modified with some fiberglass
Rearsets form a CBR1000RR mounted on brackets also used the CBR mastercyclinder for the rear.
Header by Moriwaki probably (so I was told) not 100% sure, rest of the exhaust is from a '90 750Ninja by Vance & Hines
Sportster shocks
Superbike handlebars, barend mirrors don't know what brank.
Thats all for now.

Wow man, that is quite the transformation from where you started!
The suspension mods that you are planning are really going to complete your project. I'm a fan, keep us posted!
