ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh that blue fender feels like its stabbing me in the eyes
i like the look of the tank (although im sure you're gonna paint it) and the whole bike looks awesome. always been a huge fan of euro style bikes.

Yeah that blue is just not right. The fender still needs work though before I can paint it, right now I have it hugging the chopped original front fender and I am going to have to bolt the two together because I need the original fender to mount to the forks corectly and serve as a fork brace and the blue one is just plastic but it all fits snugly, I'll have to get it to sit lower on the front wheel and I'll get some detail pics, it will be quite nice when I ge that part done. Looks so much better than the stock fender.
That tank needs some serious work as well. Good thing I have plenty of bondo and sandpaper handy, that will take a while. Got some por-15 sealer for it as well.
More pics to follow eventually.

That is coming along nicely brother! I too was scared when I saw the gold frame, but the CB picture is pretty bitchin'! Good luck man and keep the pictures coming. Can't wait to see her all done!

Wow, DavO, you sure didn't waste any time, did you?
Mine is .... sigh .... still in the shop. For the rest of you, I bought the blue KZ650 from the guy DavO bought the red one from.
It's been sitting at Ron's CycleWorld for the past 5 1/2 weeks. I did go by and see it the other day, though.
Here's a tip. When you take your bike into a shop, and they have a sign on the wall that says: "visiting Hours by appointment, only", you can pretty much figure you're not getting your bike back anytime soon.

It's true, I'm not wasting any time. I haven't been able to make quite as much progress as I'd like on the bike, but it is coming along. I still need to finish stripping the tank and then bondo and paint it up, as well as get the front and rear fenders properly mounted (I cut the rear frame and moved the rear fender up and angled it up a little more for a racier look), and I'm getting some z1 supplies today so after the painting, reinstalling the electronics, cleaning and installing the carbs, I should be good to go, well, I guess I do need an exhaust, that's last on my list.
I was toying with the idea of taking a kerker header and a sportbike exhaust I could sweep up at a high angle, I think that would look awesome. We'll see. If anyone has leads on a cheap sport can or decent 4-1 header, let me know...

Okay, I have to be lumped into the "...gold?...ewww, gross" group; which has been changed to the "...wow, take a look at the gloss black KZ with the cool gold frame" group.
An outstanding job...excellent vision!

Haha, yeah, it was a shady idea at first but it is pretty awesome, that pic above doesn't do the gold justice since I didn't have the flash on.
I really didn't make much progress this past week, except to purchase a sportbike exhaust can (still looking for 4-1 headers) and break up with the girlfriend which leaves me a lot more time to work on the bike.
Maybe by this weekend I'll have something else to show and tell...
