still around, and some plans made for the bike yet this year.

i had a set of vortex rear-sets arranged... long story short, they never show up. so, no rear sets.

rather than buy some other ones, i picked up a clausing 8530 knee mill to make those, and every other damn thing that i think i'll want for this bike or any of the cars.

it's already paying for itself working on some customer projects, really saving time. now, just need to tool up a bit more to really be kicking stuff out.

so, keep a weather eye out, there is mosdef some cool stuff coming.

8^)

LOL!!!

the colors are just some matching body work that i had laying around.

it's probably gonna end up being all matte blue like the front fender.

avast, yee salty dogs!

i'm drawing some sketches and planning some of the last pieces. i'd had plans to just buy some, and adapt them, but i decided to just make some. i have a good plan, just zero time to work them up.

maybe later this summer when the shop slows down a bit. in the mean time, it's still hibernating back in the corner under a cover.

i also got some new ideas about what to do with the bars. the renthal fatties ended up on the zrx... they work there quite well.

a buddy of mine SCORED a nice 78 drag bike on the uber cheap, and it's kind of got me motivated to pull my drag machine out of hiding and throw the turbo engine in it.

so, i might just have to start a new project thread. 8^)

night all.

well, i pulled the bike out of the corner that it had been languishing in yesterday...

i figure if it's out in the open, and staring me down, that i won't be able to ignore it.

i was right.

i spent about an hour last night before i went to bed deciding which direction i was going to take for mounting the bars. i think i came up with something fairly useful.

just for grins, i dug out one of the drag bars that i had buried. i also pulled out the stock dogbones for my zrx and a pair from a kz750 top clamp. similar ideas for the same solution. i need to eyeball things a bit more, but i am leaning towards using the clamps from the kz750.

they are a little taller, and a little old-school looking. i think that might actually work out really well. i'll take those bars down and have them coated black. see how it looks when i put it together.

also, coming up with some good ideas for rear sets that i might fabricate from some 3/8ths inch round tubing and then fab up some weldments for mounting of pegs and such.

not looking for too aggro peg movement, just something a little back and a little up. i have some cast-off Ti pegs from some aftermarket rear sets that i might use, and then i'll have to scrounge some other fittings and such for the shift linkage, but that is just dinking around for a couple hours sometime.

these two issues are ones that have been driving me nuts for a while, and now that i have some ideas to solve them, i will move forward.

now, i need to order my gauge and see if i can find that odessey battery i wanted to get. those should be the last big-dollar items on the list, along with longer brake lines for the front system.

stay tuned. i might have time to post a couple pics of the bars tonight.
