Hello all!
I stumbled across this amazing site while looking for Kaw info. I've been trying to get my brother interested in taking the old man's '82 1000 LTD off my hands for over two years. It has 12,000 miles, Kerkers, K&Ns, Accel coils, new rubber, and a flawless tank w/matching sidecovers. After revealing his intentions of bobbing it, and turning it into a cafe racer, I have decided I don't need the extra space THAT much. I'm not against customizing, just thought it was a waste to do that to a bike in this condition...

p.s. I don't really think the bike is stupid, just my brother!!!

I have an '80 750H Ltd (1st bike - purchased for $350 back in '87!), a '76 KZ900, '03 Connie, several parts bikes, and now the 1000 LTD...

With a bike in that condition, I agree! Welcome.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
This bike isn't stock. The mods are amature at best compared to some of the bikes posted here. It's not a 99 point bike. But it's not a project, parts, rat bike either...

Sometimes you get one that's so far from stock, it's cheaper to go a different direction...restorations are expensive. When it's good to go like that one...riding it will be a blast. That's what I did for 10,000 miles on mine, then I wanted a little more performance, but couldn't afford it. So I came up with a way to lighten the bike, and lower the cg significantly, without reducing the ground clearance. My bike was farther from stock than yours, so it didn't bother me to change it around.

Your set-up is exactly what my brother is looking for. As long as it's a mid-70's Honda CB550... Family!

I have to agree Tganek, keep it as is.
I've got a '77LTD1000 and have decided to keep it "mostly" stock since it's in such good shape. I'll be doing some mods to lower the CG (I'm height challenged) and some cosmetics (some graphics on the tank and maybe some light changes). And of course (when weather permits,he,he,he) I'll be converting to the 530 chain (already got the parts and will change the ratio a bit).
Nice ride, Tganek.!B)
