Hello folks
23 Oct 2006 12:08
I'm a 49yo male, lifetime gearhead, but mostly on cars, and airplanes and boats. I've had several bikes over the years, but I never really had to work on any of them.
I recently decided I wanted another bike to play with. Looked around at some of the new rocketships, and just can't get myself interested in them. Then I decided I'd look at some of them bikes I always wanted but could never afford. Lo and behold, I found a forlorn looking, but running 1980 KZ1000 on Craigslist. Always wanted one (I'm an old Mad Max fan). She ain't pretty, but she runs a hell of a lot faster then this old boy needs to go.
So now I have a project to keep me busy. I don't plan on doing anything to the engine except polishing it, but I do plan on a lot of cleaning up, painting and doing something with the seat. I think I'd prefer a seat off of an A model. My legs are kinda long. Besides, the guy that sold me the bike threw in a Z1R fairing clone, and I don't think that'll look very good with the B seat.
So anyway, I'm sure to come up with a lot of questions as I start digging into this thing.

Sorry I haven't replied back until now, but the weather was nice yesterday, so I spent the day with my new sweety.
I took a couple pics of her, and like I said, she ain't no fashion model, but MAN! Can she PERFORM!
OK, I'm having trouble uploading pics right now, but I'll figure it out sooner or later.
