what year is my kz650?

not sure where to post this question
i got what i was told was a 1979 kz650 (that is what the title says) but got cleaning up the bike and found the date on the id plate states 11 76 so i my bike a 1976 or a 1977 the frame vin matches the title but the engine vin is diffrent from the frame

Check this site... jarle.eltelevest.no/Kawasaki/Series/Z/650/z650.htm but be aware (at least on some bikes) he has the frame and motor numbers swapped...other info appears to be correct. I don't know how it is in Wyoming, but in Texas, the year of the title is determined by the frame number...so, if your frame VIN is dated 11/76, you probably have a 1977 year frame.:)

Welcome. It does sound like a '77 model. And the engine numbers does not match, that's normal on the 650s and almost all other KZs.(If not all).
