Just wanted to say hi everybody, seems like a great website. Ime not a KZ owner yet but goin to look @ a 1979 KZ1000 this weekend with 17000 on the clock, he is asking 1300 or best offer. Anything i need to watchout for on these KZ1000 as ime not to familar with them. Ime sure their motor/tranny is pretty much as bulletproof as my 1982 suzuki gs1100e which have stator or rectifier problems if not properly taken care of,just wondering so thanks in advance. btw love these older naked bikes

Welcome. If it's not a shaft or an LTD it's worth some $$$$. Even if it is a shafty or LTD $1300 is not that much.

Welcome,

We'd all be curious what you end up with...as has been mentioned, the motors are fairly well engineered...and the big killer of these bikes is not necessarily the mileage, but rather, literally, the age of the bike. If the motor has never been cracked and rebuilt, many of the original internal rubber bits/ pieces/ seals/ gaskets start to deteriorate with time, even if the bike has low miles.
