Just bought my first bike. Thought it was a KZ750 LTD but recently found out it was a ZN700-A1 after looking up the VIN. The shaft drive should have tipped me off sooner I guess.

I was going to just learn on this bike and then sell it but after seeing what so many others have done with these bikes I've decided to make it into a project. Some of my plans include catching up on maintenance, cleaning and sealing tank, new handlebars, new grips, new mirrors, LED lights, dual headlights, new seat and flat black/gunmetal grey paint with blacked out engine and exhaust. I'm going for a mean look rather than original to better hide all of my rookie mistakes.

I posted pics in the gallery and here are some more of my before pics.

Welcometo KZr DK.

I also own an '84 ZN700, and can tell you from personal experience that you'll really like the power it has for a mere 700cc's!

If you need any help or info on your bike don't be afraid to ask, I've probably tackled just above every issue imaginable on my bike over the last few years.

I don't know exactely what plans you have for your bike, but if you plan on ditching the gauges for something else, and if they're functional, I'll gladly buy 'em from you! :)

Welcome!
I like all the of the proposed updates. Those are a very common set of things to change on these bikes, so you should be able to get lots of time-saving and helpful suggestions when you need them...
Enjoy!
