Hey from North Dakota

Hi there! Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself, my name is Damon and I picked up my KZ750 LTD (shaft) this spring, have already put 2K miles on it. I can't tell you how happy I was to find this forum, been looking for something like this for a while now.

I see a lot of KZs in my area that have seen better days. I guess I'm mostly curious on doing engine swaps on some bikes, I love the frame of these things and would like to build something custom eventually starting with a KZ frame.

Gotta start somewhere though. Were frames specific to engine size? My 750 is an '83, I also have a line on a '79 650 and would like to grab and use that bike as a starting point for something bigger (say, maybe throw a 1000 in it if it's a straight swap, if I'll need to weld I may try something more fun like a smaller v-twin).

I'd be curious to hear of any swaps people have done. These bikes look to be fun candidates for bobs and chops (plan on leaving the 750 stock though, I love that bike). It would be fun to hear some stories of people who've done extreme things to these bikes.

Others have put 750s into the 650 frames. Even a few have put 1000s in, but thats a little trickier. Here's a pic of a Z1 powered 650:

I realize this is an old post but I just realized that I bought the bike from the OP. I sure loved that bike. Sold it to buy my KZ1000. I have missed it ever since.
