First Post From a 2nd-Time Owner of 1983 KZ750 L3

Hi All! New member here, but old rider. Actually haven’t ridden in years, but I go way back. Not at all new to forums either, so I’ve checked out most of the site.
After my 81 440 LTD when I was 18, I rode a KZ 650 that was for sale and absolutely fell in LOVE with how the power felt, compared to the 440. My grandmother co-signed a loan, and I went right out to Terry’s Kawasaki in Easton, MD and bought a brand new KZ 750 L3 Sports. Then t-boned it a few months later! Went back to Terry’s and bought the 84 700 version, and the shop manual, and got real familiar with doing my own maintenance and some upgrades: Kerker exhaust and a Dyna-Jet kit, Ferodo brakes, that sort of stuff.
Later sold that for a leftover 86 900 Ninja, then moved on to a 97 Concours, which my wife and I loved to ride to the VA mountains. Had marriage problems, then a divorce, so I didn’t ride much for a few years…, later bought and sold a 2003 100th Anniversary Electra Glide, then for many years riding was a thing of the past.
Till one day in 2017, I was looking at 80’s Kawasaki’s for sale online, and found an L3 in real nice shape. And my 19 year-old self took over, and I bought it. Unfortunately when it arrived, on my first ride it started puking gas. Disappointed, I parked it. For 9 years! Outside for a couple years, sometimes under cover, most times not. Then moved it into storage for the past 7 years. Yeah, terrible, I know. (Depression issues.)
My avatar pic shows how it looked when I bought it. But now, something has been re-kindled, and I’ve started to revive this teenage dream bike. I have a great work space, so I dug out the old shop manual, thankfully found this site, and began. I’ll start a project thread, and I’ve already been reading MANY threads here, and identified a few members who also have this bike and the 82 GPz, so I’ll probably be reaching out to some of you.
Glad to be here!
