Handlebars
26 Nov 2025 05:49
Hello, I am new to the group..., thx for letting me in (from USA - NH). I am rebuilding a 77 KZ1000 LTD B1, total resto...., does anyone have any knowledge of Handlebars..? I cant find stock NOS set, or even used ones. Not sure what else would work or fits correctly with stock cables and wires thru the bars. Any input appreciated.....
thanks....
thanks....

Hello Macer,
I wish I could answer your question directly. I seem to have a gap in my stable. No 1000's.
However I'm bettin that if you contact Joseph the owner of KZR's Bike of the Month for May of this year you might get some good information. www.kzrider.com/forum/13-bike-related/59...the-month?start=1560
You could start by posting a reply in that thread.
Hope that helps.

Basically it's just a thicken piece and is easily spotted on pictures.Hello, I am new to the group..., thx for letting me in (from USA - NH). Then there is the difference between US and ROW bars. US having twice the rise on them which means you need longer operation cables, throttle/clutch.
ROW bars with US long cables just looks like a plate of spaghetti so can't really be mixed. US bars with ROW cables will restrict turning and throttle operation.

Like Warren mentioned, easy to distinguish because of the thicker area between upper bridge handlebar clamps. And as he mentioned too, KZ650 early, had wire thru bars but i believe they had a different rise and most likely width. Those B or LTD bars were often changed! Not only because of the buckhorn look and sorta wanky feel they provided but cheaper non-OEM replacements were waay cheaper and multiple selections available to suit a preferred riding style. They were a bear to get those clamp-on turn signals to sit right without crowding cables etc too. I do know the 1977 and 1978 KZ1000B's shared the same handlebar, part# 46003-1002. Not sure of the # for the KZ650, might have to look that one up! Honda also used them during the same period so you might have a variety available there too but they won't be the same dimensions of course. Anyhoot, i have one in pretty nice shape. Do You have the LH switchblock #46091-055 and RH 46091-1031 units? Also if You're doing a restoration, i also have multiple bits. A selection of the styles of KZ OEM rear brake pedals shown as an example, rechromed. Also restore the original Mulholland rear shocks. Seems i'm one of the resident goofy persons on here that like to keep everything original, ha. Have Fun, Clay

Thanks for the info.., yes, I have the two switch blocks. The bars I took off are not stock, someone changed and gut holes in these lower bars.., kinda hacked up. Since I didn't have stock bars, not sure how they would feel..., So, guess I would try a stock bar and see how it goes, or a decent aftermarket bar sittig a little lower, if it had holes pre-cut to help with install..? Anyone have suggestions on decent aftermarket handlebars that seem to work/fit well..? Also; what would you be asking for the stock bars you mentioned you have..?
thanks, John
