X-Ring, O-Ring, Non O-Ring Chain question

Hi all, first post for me here!  I'm coming from a '70's CB550 where the new O-Ring and X-Ring chains are a bit too wide and will grind into the cases and cause permanent oil leaks.  I'm working on a couple of KZ440s and wondering if that same thing can happen on these?  Got a couple of bikes in boxes and they have nice new chains included but don't want to risk that - anyone know for sure on this?  Thanks.

I use DID chains and have never had a problem with excessive width on the 440. The cheapest ("VO") chains from DID are O-ring chains and the others are X-ring.
