Pic request for back of frame 79 kz400
05 Sep 2025 09:06
HI all,
I have recently purchased a 79 kz400 that the PO had started to build into a cafe racer. I am restoring it to factory condition, but the rear end of the frame was modified.
The parts manual doesn't show where the seat brackets attach. If anyone can send me a photo of the frame showing where the seat brackets, latch, and rear frame arch are
so that I can fab and weld them, I would be grateful.
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan - welcome!
I can provide a pic with measurements, but it will probably be tomorrow afternoon or so.

These are measured with the end of the tape against the back of the rear fuel tank support, where the frame narrows. Hope they help!
Edit: sorry they're so dark - not sure why that happened

Thank you so much! I hate to be a pain, but if possible could you send pics and measurements of the tail of the frame from the rear shock mounts to termination including cross brace?
The PO cut off the rest of the frame just aft of the shocks, ugh!
Thanks,
Alan
