New here from Canada

I just found a ‘77 kz200 for cheap, it’s essentially a bike in a box, I’m making arrangements to go pick it up in the next week or so.

I’m looking at cdi conversion and hydraulic disk brake conversion

after studying pictures of the front brake I think I have an off the shelf solution to gain hydraulic disc brake.

Welcome from Canada!

A buddy had a KZ200.
I was surprised it had a cable activated front disk brake.

Mechanical disk brakes weren’t uncommon in Japanese motorcycles and small dune buggies

As soon as I pick this up, hopefully this weekend, I’ll be starting a project thread.

Had to put off picking up the kz200 till the end of the month.

A friend recently crashed their ninja 250r and said if there are any parts that’ll work on the KZ I could have them for cheap, just before their bike got written off they bought a USD fork and triple tree conversion kit but didn’t get to install it.

Has anyone swapped stock ninja 250r front suspension onto a kz200? If the front suspension will fit, I’ll snag it and the swing arm which I’ll get a welder friend to add shock mounts to convert it to dual shock swing arm.

Im not sure which part of the forum I can load up with tech questions. I hope it’s ok here till I know the correct section.

To be honest I doubt anything will fit without significant modification and machine work, unless you have access to the required machines or a buddy that is a machinist this will get very expensive real fast and there is still the possibility that it won't work. You would probably need to keep with the stock wheels as I doubt you can buy off-set sprockets which would lead to the need to adapt to the stock axles which would bring challenges with the speedo drive etc. In short just about everything would need custom mods to fit and work. I'm not saying it's not achievable but you need to go into the project with your "eyes open" so it doesn't end up on Ebay as an "unfinished project" good luck

Hey wookie thanks for the reply. Figured I’d ask here before tossing money out the window.

There’s precious little information on swapping parts for the KZ200. Unless you’re from Indonesia and similar countries, but the parts the donor bikes aren’t available in North America.
