Return to KzR after a long while.
17 Jan 2025 14:48
Hey all,
Some of the “old timers” may recognize my username from here and a few other forums. I used to be quite active from 2000-2015ish. But life and other things pulled me away from here.
Anyways, I’m back and have a few more rides than when I left.
‘76 Kz900 Strip-fighter (still moth-balled in the rafters)
’78 Kz1000 Streetfighter (now on it’s 4-5th version)
’83 Gpz750 Resto-mod
’79 Kz650 Resto-mod (current project)
’18 Z900RS (Daily rider)
Later, Doug

Those who were infected with The Dreaded Z-Bug in the past will always be so.
There is no known cure.
It's purposely undocumented & never spoken of in medical journals or legacy media for fear of causing panic within the un-biked masses & HD riders in particular.
We see you've been self medicating while away by applying more & more Z-bikes. Satisfying but, ultimately doomed to repetition, as The Dreaded Z-Bug always compels it's host to feed it with more & more Z-stuff.
It doesn't even have to be hardware acquisition; those so inflicted are also driven to search out arcane bits of knowledge, such as the number of leaves on a Z1 horn bracket. Or why, in the White Manual > Maintenance > Carburetors > Table 3, it says "Fuel Lever 32 +/- 1mm", when it's also correct that, under Maintenance > Carburetors > 'Fuel level measurement and adjustment', it clearly states "The gasoline level in the hose should come up to .10 ~ .18 inch (about 1/8 inc, or 2.5 ~ 4.5 mm) below the edge of the carburetor body." How can both be correct? Only those who are irrecoverably infected know...
Such driven desire for obscure knowledge might cause 'normal' people to question their sanity. But not us Dreaded Z-Bug hosts. It can also cause arcane & otherwise-useless paragraphs like above to be typed.
There is even one documented occurrence of a female spouse (who shall remain nameless) who was infected by proximity to her husband (who shall also remain neaneless) to ruin the fresh, bright-red war paint on her claws due to spending hours at a wire wheel, making tiny vintage parts aesthetically pleasing.
Try as we might, resistance is futile.
Welcome back!
