Replacement carbs for a ZK1100 Spectre (1982 shaft drive)
13 Jan 2025 03:16
Hello all , First post !
Ok, I have looked on the forum for this answer but cannot find it
I want to know if there are a bolt on replacement set of carbs from another model of bike that will fit onto my KZ1100
I have a set of Makuni BS34's running pod filters , and runs like crap, and don't wont to go the route of jets upgrade as i think the carbs are so worn it might not solve my issue.
So has anyone come across a set of carbs from another bike that just bolt on?
Many thanks in advance !

Welcome.
Any KZ four carb from a air cooled 750/900/1000 will fit, they are all the same spacing.
Some Suzuki carbs will also fit, the GS series bikes but I have never fit them. Honda stuff is weird, Yamaha not sure. Stay with Kawasaki brand and it should not be a issue, but the newer water cooled bikes use a different spacing and will not bolt straight on, so those should be avoided.

Member Zed sells "air correction" jets, which greatly simplifies carb jetting problems brought on by pod air filters.
In terms of the carbs wearing out, that's unlikely, unless the bike has 100,000 miles on it, and/or the rubber diaphragms are torn.
If you don't mind throwing money at the problem, some Mikuni RS carbs are reputed to be near bolt-on.
Lastly, I have a set of cores from an 1100 shaft KZ. They need to be rebuilt, but I know a guy that does that sort of work...

I would agree with Nessism, if you manage to buy a set of carbs from a different model that run right straight out of the box I would buy a lottery ticket !! ask member Cartal (he got a set from a "J" for his "K" which is almost the same except for cam lift and it ran like crap until he sorted the jetting)
