New member 1979 KZ200 project
16 Mar 2024 06:43 - 16 Mar 2024 08:18
Good morning,
my names Daniel and I’m working on a 1979 kz200 as a senior project. Completely new to riding but have always wanted to work on old bikes as a hobby.
current issues. Bike has no brake calipers in the front and will be needing to be replaced debating on how to convert to hydraulic or source a cable driven brake caliper
another issue. She has no spark. Ran just fine till one day she Replaced the relay and battery even the plugs yet I suspect it’s the ignition coil as electric starting or kick starting has no luck in causing a spark.
any help would be appreciated
regards,
Daniel

Welcome to our version of fun! Front brake caliper, master cylinder, and associated parts shouldn't be hard to find and would be a good starting point.

Welcome. I've liked the KZ200 ever since I saw a tasteful cafe version at a VJMC rally back in '10. I think the owner's name was Victoria.
Partzilla is your friend for parts that are still available, for schematics and part number crossover. I've had good luck looking on eBay by part number.

CMSNL in the Netherlands and Webike in Japan often have factory parts that are listed as NLA by U.S. vendors.
