Howdy folks!
Long(ish) time lurker, first time poster. Happy to be here.
I picked up an 82 KZ1100 shaft from a neighbor a few months back, and I've been doing some open heart surgery on her between Washington's frequent rainstorms. Previous owner swore up n down she ran, but her battery couldn't hack it anymore. Spark tested, compression checked, oil changed, and a fresh tank of gas for her and she's feeling much better. I still haven't taken her out for a ride yet since her tires are close to 6 years old, cracked and weathered, but that wasn't the plan to start with anyhow. Eventually I'm gonna get her fixed right up to as close of a daily rider as the weather will allow.
Right now though, she's on the slab for a full wiring refresh. She had the typical rats nest of a loom and it looks like SOMEONE in her past tried wiring up her Vetter gear in shall we say "creative" ways... Luckily you don't have to trace wires in the rain, so hopefully this will be done by the beginning of summer if work allows it. Wish me luck there!
Anyway, it's great to be here, I'm glad to meet you all, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you soon!
Cheers!

Welcome!
...(serendipity! my CAPTCHA was "motorcycle") These "little" things add to the joy of returning these "icons" to their former glory.
I wonder if the same will ever be applied to the "current" models... 40 plus years form now?

Welcome. You’ll get lots of help here.
IMHO, from what I’ve seen, Vetter did more harm than good.

Welcome to another Washingtonian. Looks like you have a bit of work ahead of you. I think that one would take me a bit more than 6 months.

We completed a Z1 basket case a couple years ago. We generally name our bike projects. We named that one "The Seven Year Bitch".
