Hello,
My name is Catalin and I am the new owner of this beauty (K)Z650 F3 from '83
Although I bought it to transform it into a cafe racer when I saw it live I have changed my mind and the new plan is to restore it.

Welcome from the UK. Great looking bike and too good to "cafe". There are plenty of rough ones out there for a "modified" project (who am I to talk  )

Howdy. A Z650-F3 should be an 82 model. An F4 is an 83.

The frame number should clear it up.  Kawasaki service manuals have the beginning frame numbers on the back cover.
The 82-83 F3/F4 models are probably almost identical.  I have the 81-83 FSM & the supplement for the 83 models is just one page plus a couple of wiring diagrams.

The frame no is for F3 according to what I have found on web, KZ650F014102
My question is why on the German papers the model is kz650 B and not F?

Somebody made an error &/or possibly confused the engine number & frame number.
On the 650F models:  the engine numbers are KZ650BExxxxxx.

By Kodak:  According to my docs is '83 but maybe is manufactured in '82 an registered in '83. Who knows.

It could have been a leftover 82 model purchased in 83 so it was registered as an 83 model.  Who knows. hee.

Just an FYI.  If you don't have the Kawasaki factory service manual (FSM), the 81-82 FSM has glossy pages, while the 81-83 pages are dull plus the 81-83 is hard to find, in the USA anyway.  The dull pages will probably get dirtier easier if that matters. I scanned the supplement pages for the 83 model (but from the frame number yours should be an 82). ... ps: the jarlef z650 site linked above has the 1981 KZ650 FSM.

Unfortunatelly I don't have the FSM but I want to buy this one from ebay. Apparently this covers both F2 & 3 versions.

That's the 81-83 FSM, so it also covers the 1983 F4.  As mentioned above, the pages may be dull & would have a greater tendency to get dirty if that matters to you. The earlier manuals have glossy pages.
