Hello from Holland! was created by RobertvdBerg
Well hello there!
My name is Robert, 32 years old. I'm from the centre of The Netherlands. I live in a town called Ede, along with my wife and our newborn daughter.
I have been restauring old Zundapps and Puch mopeds in the past, and got my motorcycle driver's license about 5 years ago and first bought a Honda VFR800X crossrunner with V-tec. Lovely bike but for the two of us back then it was a bit to small. So after some search I got myself a Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 from 2015, with around 14k on it. 3 cases on it, cruisecontrol and every option you could imagine. But shortly after buying it my wife decided that she did want a baby (12 years before she wasn't sure about that). Knowing we wouldn't be going on trip's together, and me really missing the old stuff, I sold the Triumph and purchased myself a '80 Kawa Z1000 (and I think it's a late '78 model). It has had some mods already, and I like the looks. Bought it to be in a proper condition, but soon figured out that it wasn't. Ignition is busted, carbs are not that good too. Won't go in to neutral under 10mph, and when the engine is up to running temp it starts to struggle on high rpm's on full throttle. A bit of black smoke comes out of the exhaust and it just sucks. Will probably be the cilinders or valve seals or something.
Anyways, I got the project bike I wanted so bad, and am thinking about having the engine rebuilt with new ignition and maybe newer carbs or maybe injection. And when I got that mile, I might as well redo the frame, and rims and hubs to. I wanna change colors maybe, and some other mods.

Long story short I got myself quite some work for the next year's, but the bike is more than worth it, it just breaths quality for that era!
I love it!!

Greetings
Robert van den Berg

Robert, welcome. I like the bike. Clean nice attention to details. I’m sure with proper description of issues, the knowledge here can help you sort them out. It would help to get a factory service manual and preform all of the maintenance items. Just doing that could sort out some of your problems. At the very least it will get you familiar with the bike and proper part names. That will go a long way in getting correct answers. It’s a great looking bike. I’m sure it can be tweaked to get it running as nice as it looks.

Hello and welcome Robert. Nice bike but the frame and engine details tells me you are an owner of a modified Z1R bike.
ID by the sub frame for the rear foot rests and the mounting position holes for the rear disk MC and the side cover rubber grommet.
