Hello KZriders! - My name is Ron Fontenot, and I'm addicted to "rare" Antique Automobiles. Also, a mega nerd, self-proclaimed physicist, Army Vet, and have been a practicing &/or professional mechanic for ~10 years. I recently purchased my first motorcycle. Sold "as parts", "ran when parked," & without a key. Regardless - for $125, I bought the exact chassis I wanted. Now I get the pleasure of doing a total restoration, & no bolt will go untouched. This project will also be my first real build thread, and I'll do my best to create a quality thread.

I typed up a reply Sunday morning including day 1's progress, and a few more pictures. Unfortunately, I kept getting an error message when posting. Then forgot to save a copy of the text. /: This post will be - slightly - more brief, & sans pictures. I'll get into the nerdy details as well as have more photos of the process in the actual build thread.

Progress summery:
It's not stolen, or was never reported to an insurance company.
The engine holds oil, and the crank spins freely.
I can hear the engine making compression noises.
Clutch system works.

Follow up question:
I've hear about filling engines with diesel/oil and turning the crank to make sure it's not seized, help flush debris, and keep the cylinder walls happy in the process. I wanted to try it, but first hear y'alls opinion.
Also, what would you address next?

Thank you so much, I'm sure to have many questions. Not to mention a laundry list of parts to replace. The Supra is my baby, & I drive it everyday. Two summers ago I blew the headgasket doing ~130. I took it down to the block replacing every gasket, timing belt, cap & rotor, plugs, had the injectors serviced & head machined, lapped the valve seats (by hand), and cleaned every bit of carbon. She spins like a top.

My thoughts exactly, and I'm not really motivated by profit. I have wanted to build, not buy, my first motorcycle since before I could even drive a car (many of my immediate family members are "patch-holders"). Thanks for the good luck

The idea is to add a bit of oil to the cylinders before you turn it over. No need to fill the crankcase with anything.

New battery
New plugs
Oil change
Fresh gas and see what happens.

Carb might need to be rebuilt but you can get by pulling just the bowls and caps and soaking the whole assembly in straight Pinesol for 24hrs.
