kz greenhorn
14 Nov 2020 08:58
Hi gang, I’m a proud owner of a 1980 kz1000P , purchase couple weeks ago here in Toronto, Canada. My first Kawi, but my 3rd bike. Bike came with kz1000 LTD seat - see sellers pictures - so I’m looking for a solo Police seat, any pointers would be welcome! All the best, Marcel

Welcome Marcel. The KZPs are really fun bikes to ride. If the KZPs were used in Toronto you'll be made aware of the cop bike curse.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Thanks Jim! I’m really looking forward to taking it on the road come Spring! I might loose the fairing between now and then, not liking it. The later model fairings look better to me, the way they have the lights incorporated. I will have to see what sort of brackets I will need to attach the headlight and indicators after it’s off the bike.
LOL, have to ask, what’s the curse? The city cops here and the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) have always used the Harley cop bikes, at least I’ve never seen them on Kawi bikes.
Have a great Sunday!

The cop bike curse is when people in front of you slow waaaaaaay down because they think you are a cop. Maddening when it's not legal to pass them.
On the plus side if you are on the freeway and come screaming up behind some slowpoke in the fast lane the chances are good they'll peel off to the right.
Enjoy the bike. It's fun to scrape the floorboards.

Correct, originally it would have had a windshield with the array of lights. I’m going to remove the fairing before Spring.

Welcome, I also reside in Toronto ( Downsview .)
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I bet. I keep a close eye on dark grey Ford Explorers with extra antennas. They scare me from a distance, lol.
