Hi to all,
Just joined kzrider. I have gathered up a few old 4 cylinder Kawasakis over the years to restore as a retirement project. Have gathered quite a few parts to make this easier.
Am starting with my 1974 Z1A

Yes, welcome and please show photos. You're in Ft St John? I am in Chase, near Kamloops. There are several other BC vintage riders here. Are you in the BC Classic Motorcycle forum?
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Thank you. I live on Vancouver Island now but was living in FSJ when I bought my H2 and Z1. No, I only just joined KZRider as first step in becoming a civilized Kawasaki nut!

The Island has some great riding as you probably know. So does the interior....fantastic scenery if you like snow capped mountains. Post some photos of your bikes please.

Hello,
Well I have not worked on the 1974 z1A, but got going on the 1977 KZ1000. I had a brand new one when living in Greece from 1976 to 1978. Had it delivered still in the crate to the sidewalk in front of our rental villa, put it together and rode it all over Greece. I am trying to emulate that bike. It was Diamond Sky Blue (I have a correct new paint body set on the way from Ralf Pitlock at Paintworks) with gold coloured cast magnesium Campagnola wheels and Dunstall exhaust. Of course I cannot find those exact, wheels, but I stumbled over a set of cast gold wheels (from a 1980 Z1 Classic) in the basement and I am polishing them up (they are really in fine shape!) and having a go at fitting them to the KZ1000. Doing a dual disc conversion - I believe I have everything I need but for the 8 each M10 x 30 disc mounting bolts, one dust cover, a grease seal and maybe hydraulic brake hoses (but I might have them somewhere - I have the 4-way splitter and 5/8 inch Master Cylinder). I have a very nice used OEM 4 into 2 exhaust for it and an as-new OEM seat. I figure it's about year away from being done. What is eating up my time (in part) is sorting through clear plastic tubs of NOS and good used parts which I have collected over the past 20 years or so. It's just like Christmas going into the basement! I have some rare old Z1 parts. Once I finish the KZ1000 I want to clean up a 1973 Z1 which has 14,000 miles and is in really fine stock condition. A lot of the "yellow paint marked" fasteners still have the paint! Original paint set, but I will be using a new Dorimi exhaust (it's in the basement).
Meantime my plan to become an Ebay seller and start selling some extra stuff. I will have around 7 seats to sell. I do not need 11 seats when I only have 5 old Kawasakis. I knew I had a good spare seat cover somewhere, but forgot what bike it was for but now see that is a 1973-1975 Z1 OEM cover which someone took off when near new. It has all the "dog teeth" holes in it to easily fit to the pan. I have an OEM pan for it (black foam) which was fitted with a period correct after market cover years ago. The aftermarket cover is nice, but it is not OEM. I have as spare seats, a couple of 1976 KZ900/1977 KZ1000 seats, a couple of LTD seats (I think one is a for a 1976, and the other for a later LTD) a seat for a 1978 KZ1000 (one year only), a new repo seat for Z1, a seat for a Z1 Classic and a brand -new later seat which I have not identified..
None of the seats are rusted out ripped up junk like I am seeing on Ebay. Take a peek at the 1977 KZ1000 seat now on Ebay UK. Over $700 plus shipping for what?
I had best stop now or I will go on forever.
Will try and learn how to send a few photos - I am not good on computers (confusers!).
If the tariffs kick in I can tell my wife I cannot afford to sell any bikes, so I can keep them all!
Between us, in our retirement years, the most common thing we now say to each other is "Have you seen my Cell Phone?".
Good Night.
Bill

Thank you, sir.
I am trying to find new "European" drilled handlebars for my 1977 KZ1000 (my original bike had them and they were great), but no joy. Do you know, or could you kindly figure out for me whom I could contact in the UK to get the bars? I tried Kawasaki UK but got nowhere.
Thanking you in advance.
