Hi!, a quick introduction, my name is Mike Scott and I am very excited about being a member of this forum. I had for almost 43 years what I'm sure many on this forum would consider to be the coolest job in the world, although of course there were times it didn't seem like it to me! In Jan. of 1975 I applied for work at the new Kawasaki factory on the outskirts of my hometown, Lincoln NE. I was hired on to work on the crating line, but as luck would have it I was in the right place, right time and got moved to Production Mechanic. My only previous mechanical experience was with cars, although I did own my first motorcycle, a 1971 CB350 Honda. I started out doing simple repairs and progressed to reworking engines on some of the coolest motorcycles in the world! In 2005 when motorcycle production ended in Lincoln I was moved for a short tome to the Q.C. Rework Dept., but then was recruited to the R&D Dept. which was at the time started development of the Teryx4. I retired in January of 2018 just weeks shy of my 43rd anniversary. Now that I am retired I have started to work on some motorcycle projects I have accumulated over the years. This looks like an awesome place to learn and share!

Are there user friendly instructions on the site for posting photos? I'm not exactly "hi tech". My bikes in running condition are a 76 900B, an 80 750E and a 74 F7. Current projects are a 66 W1(this one runs, but needs a little work), a 781000B and in the future a 74 Z1A. Playing with my old stuff has been pretty good therapy during this time of social distancing!

Thanks for the welcome, I will be happy to share the history of the Kawasaki plant in Lincoln, or any expertise, that I remember! (67 years old!)

Welcome! Glad to have you join the forum.

To add photos click "attachments" when you are done typing your message. A box will pop up which will allow you to select photos off your hard drive. Load them up and then click "insert all" on the photos so they will be added to your post in high resolution. A lot of people don't do this last part and it's frustrating because the photos show up as tiny thumbnails.

Take care

I'll give the picture thing a try, my 1976 KZ900B assembled in Lincoln, I possibly had my hands on it then. I purchased it in 2006 from the second owner who lived within sight of the factory. Other than a pretty nice quality repaint and some bolt on shiney pieces, it is an original, unmolested example.

I FIXED YOUR PICTURE

Good first effort but you forgot to hit "insert all" before posting.

I'm pretty sure I hit the insert all on the first effort, but I forgot the I'm not a robot button and had to reattach the picture. I see now I also misspelled introduction! I have a pretty cool black/white picture of a 23 year old, long haired me in my Kawasaki uniform with a 900 LTD. I'm going to try to use it as my profile picture.

Yeah, the robot button got me a few times. Bots try to hack KZR all the time.

Welcome. I look forward to hearing stories from the factory.
