Another newbie from Texas
15 Apr 2020 14:16
Howdy y'all. Been lurkin for about 3 months and decided from the interaction between members this would be a pretty good place to hang out from time to time.
I began my cycle journey back in the 70's as a teenager riding dirt bikes for fun. Had several including Honda, Kawasaki. My favorite then was a 75 or 76 250 ElSinore. Don't remember the year. Eventually got a few street bikes. Had a Honda CB750 that I rode to work for couple years. Also had a 400 Suzuki. In 1984 I purchased my current restoration. A 1981 KZ1100 A1 with the Luminous Navy Blue paint scheme. A guy I graduated high school with had bought it new and decided in 1984 that he needed a pickup and sold it to me. I rode that bike until around 1995 or 96. During those last 2 years I went drag racing with it. Did pretty well but the wife talked me into stopping the racing after Elmer Trett died at Indy in 96. So, I parked it in storage and it had not seen the light again until my son decided to surprise me for my 59th birthday and pull it out and start gathering parts. That's where we are now, looking for parts. I had the original maintenance manual but still haven't located it. It needs lots of TLC and I look forward to giving it life again. Thanks for allowing long winded ramblins. Safe ridin y'all!!
