New member from Arizona
13 Apr 2020 21:29
My first Kawasaki was in 1976... I spotted the new 900-LTD, and was INSTANTLY was IN LOVE ! ! ! ! ! I owned it for about 8 years, and wasn't riding it as much as I was riding dirt bikes with friends, so when a Marine pilot from the Yuma Air Station offered more than I paid for it new, it went bye-bye. And I almost imediatley wished I hadn't sold, but life was busy, and Ifilled the gap with a number of varing models and brands in the interim.
Fast forward to mid-2017, and I found and purchased another 900-LTD, and have enjoyed re-aquainting myself with it.
Today while getting ready for a ride on it, I discovered an electrical issue, preventing it from starting, so went in search of some diagnostic info for it, and ended up here.
Hoping to get some assistance, and perhaps help others as the opportunity arises.
Steve

Great looking bike! I sincerely hope you plan to keep it stock, it is pretty rare in that condition. Ed

Thanks for the kind words... I do indeed intend to keep it at least as "stock" as it is now. Have already removed the non-OEM engine guards, and wouldn't mind removing the dynatech ignition and returning to OEM, but am in no hurry at the moment, as it's still riding ok, and fun to see the reactions of those who know and appreciate seeing one on the road, just as is.

I'm "lazily" looking for a pair of OEM grips, as I never was fond of the "spongy / puffy" style that were on it, when I bought it.

Glad to have you aboard!!!!
I have not seen that clean of a '76 900 LTD in years!!!!!
And I have been around them since they were new on the showroom floor.
Please keep that bike as stock as you can. You don't see one in that perfect of a condition anymore!!!!

Nice find! Especially with 22K on the odometer.
That's one farkle we won't do without, OEM originality notwithstanding.
We ride everything we have. Accidental parking lot drops happen to the best of us, sometimes completely out of one's control. Or, put a foot down on gravel/sand/fuel coming to a stop. Any number of low-speed/no-speed "oops" events can cause very expensive damage to OEM dyno or points covers. Caseguards are cheap & easy sacrificial accessories. But that's just us.
Heard it said once that there's nothing rational about an expensive conveyance that falls over if one places it in it's operating position & walks away.
