Hey all, just purchased my first bike this week, an 82 KZ750 ltd. Now the project begins! I plan on taking the bike with me on the road next year as I transition to full time RV living.

I'm a mechanic by trade, currently working for MCI as a heavy repair technician. Oddly enough never messed around with small engines, but after spending some time tinkering the last few days, I can see why so many people like it.

I'm also a Grammy award winning opera singer as of this year. Still waiting on them to send the official statue due to the quarantine...

Anyways, it's good to be here. I'll make a build post soon!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHey Man, I posted seeing that bike last week on craigslist, I think you got a great deal and she should clean up real nice.
We are here to help, you need to pick up a factory shop manual , ebay has a couple good ones
If you are a new rider I would also recommend you get a copy of " Proficient Motorcycling : The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well"
It is a good read even for an experienced rider.
Congratulations on the Grammy, I now have to check out " Fantastic Mr. Fox"

Welcome aboard! In case you are not aware, the KZ bikes use JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screws that look like Phillips screws. Using Phillips screwdrivers on them will damage them and make life miserable. Here's a link to some more info on JIS fasteners. Ed

Thanks, guys. I put in an offer on the bike almost as soon as I saw it. Been looking for an early 80s bike around the $500 range for a while, specifically CX500s, but they're so few and far between and the ones that show up usually don't have titles. The guy gave me a shop manual, so I'm already ahead there.

I'll check out that riding book. Used to ride dirt bikes back about 15 years ago, so I'm not completely new to riding, but still pretty new I'd say.

Welcome and Congratulations. It's about time we had some culture and class around here :)
The difference between dirt bikes and street bikes are the cagers trying to kill you. And they are trying to kill you. Keep that mindset...
